Jazzpospolita - Live Studio Recording

Jazzpospolita - Live Studio Recording

label: on Jamendo
released: July 28, 2009
style: jazz, drum´n´bass, nu-jazz, dub
quality: 192 kbps mp3 VBR
country: Poland

The band was formed by Wojtek (dr) and Stefan (b) in 2008. After a few rehearsals, concerts and contests Jazzpospolita was joined by Michal (k) and then the other Michal (g). With this line-up mostly composed of the musicians from the elite Jazz Department of Frederic Chopin Music School we recorded our second demo.
The name of the band is a play on words “Jazz” and “Res Publica” (pl – Rzeczpospolita). We are also known as the eighty-eight fingered demon, Lord of the Strings, Pres of Jazzpospolita and Metaboss. We play music which is rather difficult to describe with Myspace categories. We suggest drum’n’jazz, dumbient and polished jazz but they don’t explain what it’s all about. Anyway, despite the name and its associations with mainstream jazz we are trying to stray from pure jazz. Still we are into jazz, go to jams and transcribe all the solos of Bird and Trane. O.K., just a joke! All in all we wanna be cool, famous and liked, of course!

Wolandroid Feat. Lynny - Bright Light Closed Eyes

Wolandroid Feat. Lynny - Bright Light Closed Eyes

label: Kahvi Collective
released: 17 May 2010
style: Electronic, IDM, Downtempo, ...
format: 6 x File, MP3, 320 kbps
country: Hungary

Slightly more mainstream is the mood of the next release. A new artist in the shape of Wolandroid, who is, in fact, a friend of fellow Kahvi artist Weldroid. Not entirely sure what the similarity of the artist names signifies but they do say that impersonation is the sincerest form of flattery (or something like that).
I guess the closest you could get to Wolandroid in comparison would be U97 (back in the early 90s) in the dance and techno circuits. And yes! Vocals make a comeback @ KahviHQ but once again only in a special case. This can be seen as such a special case, with nice sounds throughout, 'suitable vocals' (unlike many a early 90s track I could mention) which actually give something to the tracks.
A nice release, short but sweet and well worthy of several listens, if not adding to your permanent playlist.
Tracks of mention: Finding rapture, the oddly named 'Night falls down' and I've lost (which sounds amazingly similar to Alpha Conspiracy). Have fun!

Tracklist:
1 Wolandroid Feat. Lynny - Embraced 5:13
2 Wolandroid Feat. Lynny - Be Around Me 4:31
3 Wolandroid - Finding Rapture 4:14
4 Wolandroid Feat. Lynny - Night Falls Down 4:06
5 Wolandroid Feat. Lynny - I've Lost 4:03
6 Wolandroid Feat. Weldroid - We Are Not Anatoliy (Remix) 4:51
