Cuefx - International Post-War Chill Remixes

Last winter was exceptionally rich in interesting recordings and important premieres for Export Label. After Blossom’s debut album Blue Balloons which created quite a buzz, there was the premiere of ‘International Post-War Chill’ by Jacek Latoń, aka Cuefx. The latter is not only a nu-jazz album, it is also the most ambitious item in both the author’s and Export Label’s discographies. The abundance of experimental sounds and musical themes allow the listener to interpret and re-interpret the content of the album and of each individual track.
“Musically it’s all about jazz, ingeniously mixed with abstract hip-hop in a very illustrative way that brings to mind a film score. Echoes of New York experimental scene can be heard on this album; illbient, Laswell, DJ-a Spooky or The Blue Series, that actually connect the hip-hop and jazz scene, all seem to have inspired Cuefx as much as Scandinavian nu-jazz has.” That’s what Bartek Chaciński (Polityka) had to say about the album.
Nearly a year has passed since the release of the album. It is time for the next step: International Post War Chill Remixes. The most interesting takes on the original tracks have been selected in the course of a contest. "Who Wants A Bomb", "25 Years Of True Love", "Neurodramatic Hip Hop", "International Post-War Chill" and "Re-Manhattan Blues" are among the remixed tracks. All in all the album features 9 never before published remixes and two bonus tracks – the results of Cuefx Band’s cooperation with Marcin Babko (hipiersoniK, Muariolanza) and with Eufoteoria.

The next installment in Saturate!’s expanding catalogue of kaleidoscopic electronic music comes from the man like Bleep Bloop from Cali. As if 5 killer originals wasn’t enough, the good folks at Saturate! Have packed STRTEP019 with 4 remixes from the extended family.
Pluto Dash injects some purple and dark urgency to ‘A Drop From a Cloud’. Koloah’s ‘Tilt’ remix retains the original’s madcap dynamism. This one will set off dancefloors left, right and centre. Where Koloah goes maximal, Subp Yao goes minimal. His reimagination of ‘Ghosts’ ventures into sparse, dark trap territory. The panning hi-hat rolls are cooked to perfection right here. Last up, G Jones takes ‘Supreme’ for a sublime West Coast G-Funk ride with cinematic atmospheres and reverberating swag.

The Polish Ambassador - Ecozoic

Starting about a month ago, The Polish Ambassador began to slowly release his latest album ‘Ecozoic’ track-by-track on his Facebook and Soundcloud. With each new track, fans were greeted with a variety of songs that pulled from multiple genres. The Polish Ambassador effortlessly mixes his signature glitch style with hip-hop, reggae, and even post-rock. This is an album that offers a refreshing breath of air for electronic music, which may seem at times stale.
To top it off, his full release revealed that ‘Ecozoic’ was a double-album, containing 12 extra tracks that he hadn’t released up to that point. We decided to highlight some of our favorite tracks from the full release.
The opening track to ‘Ecozoic’, ‘New Funk Millennium’ welcomes the listener into the strange yet marvelous world that is to come within this album. The track has a very relaxed vibe to it, featuring some deep synths that accompany it very well. As the title suggests, the track epitomizes a feeling of new funk; a mix of the old foundations of funk while incorporating new elements of electronic music today.
