Aside from the many remixes he’s done for various singles, it’s been about a year since we last released any TSP gems on you. Well that dry spell is done… quench your thirst on this tasty treat from the TSP vaults. A selection of tracks originally created for a project with Esa A.K.A. El Presidente (of the Milan based Funk Ya Momma Crew). That project never came to fruition, but these tracks needed to see the light of day. So here you are… enjoy.

Drydeckis born on 2005, this electro and instrumental band is one of the most famous on Odgprod. After various physical and digital albums offering a musical style definitely dark and massive, the crew is back with a 6 tracks Ep on Original Dub Gathering. Always as powerful and dark, however DDK unfolds in an entirely different face. We knew the EPs as Dub Chamber (2006) or DDK meets GDO (2009) drawing their inspiration directly from the French dub, we could be faced with the meeting between Dub and Dubstep on Opus as DDK vs. GDO (2010) or Heavy dub and massive s # t (2010), but we could not predict that new turn. Grime, wobbles and basslines are the watchwords; Haters gonna hate is shouted as a warning, you have been warned.

Modern music with an oldschool feel, 19 year old crew member Marvin Marlyn from Santiago, Chile brings us his own version of modern funk. Glitchy beats and sweet melodies, you get to see what this young artist has envisioned as funk up to 2011. Having dabbled in many disciplines from rapping to visual art, Marvin has an eclectic creative background that is sure to color the way he makes music. The very first album dropped here on Stereoptico, we are more than proud to present it to you. Brand new dope shit, don’t let anyone tell you about it.
This is an original project and generous, 8 tracks including 7 set by the new text, the fruit of collaboration between the rapper singer Mik le Désaxé the beatmaker YuAir and novelist Anthony Fauré! The title L'envol des élephants defines very well the atmosphere. For music that tends toward hip-hop electro dark lyrics often dealing with issues "disturbing" but with lightness see humor. What allows this elephant (representing the cares of daily life) to fly. As they say besides themselves: "This" flying elephants "is a means to launch his worries in the air like helium balloons in the hope that one day they explode."

Jazz vocalist and multi Grammy nominee Nnenna Freelon joins hip-hop quartet The Beast release Freedom Suite: a 10-track collection of creative reflections on jazz and hip-hop. Yes ladies and gentlemen, its finally here. After well over four months of hard work on the project, art and music blogger Gerald Watson, DJ 2-Tone Jones (along with the artistic help of Michigan-based graphic designer Logan Walters) have liberated a blend tape I believe should sit amongst the best free releases of 2011. The birth of the project occurred late last year when Gerald Watson accidentally came across the work ofLogan Walters, who redesigned iconic Wu-Tang album covers in the similar vein of classic Jazz album artwork originally created by Reid Miles and released by the iconic recording label Blue Note Records, a project Mr. Walters entitled the Wu-Note series. During an interview with the artist, for Gerald Watson’s blog, Logan Walters stated he’d “love to” design an official cover for a real Wu-Tang/Jazz blend tape. The blogger then sought out the help of longtime friend DJ/producer DJ 2-Tone Jones, who agreed to rework a selection of Wu Tang songs with jazz sample. The thirteen track tape features classic Wu-Tang vocals, from songs such as “C.R.E.A.M.”, “The Pit”, (Ol’ Dirty Bastard‘s) “Got Your Money”, (Method Man and Redman‘s) “How High” to name but a few, over reworked timeless Jazz pieces, by the the like of Lonnis Liston Smith, Bobbi Humphery,Miles Davis and Herbie Hancock.

Yesterday's future is tomorrow's past. What used to appear as being vanguard, might be a classic tomorrow. And what used to seem like being well-known and long left behind might vice versa grow into something completely new, fresh and futuristic through smart contextualisation. So obviously, one might just as well view past and future as one consistent space of reminiscence with its very own creative possibilities. The pool of ideas which Strobotone draws from for his debut-album on iD.EOLOGY is filled to the brim with elements of yesterday and the day before as well as concepts from tomorrow and the day after. Skilfully, he combines the stylish electronic dance-sound of the year 2025 with bits and pieces from funk, disco, electric boogie, synth pop, house, salsa, electronica, downbeat and ambient. To Strobotone, genres and their conventions are mere points of reference - memory-triggers that catapult the listener into the 70s here and into the 80s there, make him recall flashes of moments from the 90s and the 00 years, just to beam him back to the future at warp-speed in the next instant. In his crispy-clean and detailed tracks all these influences and references amalgamate into perfect pop that easily exceeds a top-heavy, eclectic experiment with styles and that simply is really damn good fun. So while the interplay of future and past is really exciting, the present also does have some good sides to it. To Strobotone it is the outlook from which he may keep an eye on both of the other times. And to you it is the exhilarating opportunity to let this inspiring album add a wee bit of colour to your everyday life.
This is by far one of the dopest projects Ive wrapped my ears around and yes I’m biased because my man Byron is from Birmingham, Alabama! I was checking out Onra’s twitter page and he recounts the project, saying it was ”made during 05/06 ft Isis from thunderheist, peter hadar, dal-gren and neco redd. Byron the Aquarius on the synths, me on the beats.” "We never made any money out of this shit, so might as well give it for free now." Byron & Onra

This future beat maker is inspired from the likes of Dilla, Häzel, Onra, Fs Green, B. Bravo & Dibiase. "This '24' Beat Tape is a testament to the technology age we live in. Being a big fan of SOULECTION it was crazy to think I could make a beat one night and 2 hours later, email it straight to Joe Kay for it to be played to the world that very same day. Inspired by Joe's fine selection of music - I decided to see how many beats I could bump out and polish in a 24 hour period." -Ta-Ku

The debut album, released in 2009, announced as the first afrobeat record in the lusophone countries, was rapidly embraced by national and international critics, with the highlight of Okayplayer, from the legendary The Roots. For a negotiable price, these private buses ensure several routes in the country, where in each stop the collector receives the clients payments and tries to convince others to join the ride. TZINAS KONSTANTINOS aka djtzinas was born in 1981 in Heraklion of Crete, where he took his first musical steps. He is best known for his live shows as a dj (and finally as a producer) in Heraklion and Athens, followed by funk/ jazz/ hip hop and tropical sounds. His debut was at the age of 18th, when he took part in several hip hop lives as an m.c. with his band called “Face 2 Face”. In 2000 the cd single “Panikos” was released by “Warehouse records” and a year after that, he decided to quit the band and enter into different musical genres. In 2005, he founded the "Portpaguzz" project, based on the idea of reediting classic beloved tracks into pop/ rock versions. In 2007, Sony/BMG and “The Movement Session” crew gave him the opportunity to release the remixed track “ti hazo paidi” first released by K. Vita. In 2010, he is back where he started, focused on every sound that is close to funk/ hip hop and reggae vibes and finally his first solo 7” vinyl, which includes two latin/ funky beats, is released by “Resense records”.
