Third in a series of five free EPs collecting the best reggae reworks from the Paris DJs 'Virtual Releases' podcast in high-quality audio, entirely produced, mixed and newly remastered by French superproducer Grant Phabao, 'Dynamite B-Boys' gathers four reworks of monumental American Hip Hop artists Lyrics Born, Jurassic 5, Big Daddy Kane and The Procussions. No-one today can dispute that reggae was the most influential figure in the development of hip-hop, that reggae music gave America the technology to create hip-hop. Now Grant Phabao, one of the very rare few producers today to bring back the real roots reggae sound without dripping it with variety songs chords and sound gimmicks, is paying tribute to those origins, taking classic hip hop a cappellas and dressing them with elastic, dynamic reggae grooves, taking the present back into the past with a blast!

This one is mainly a warm-up mix in black and white (hence the title and artwork), presenting contemporary and international mento, ska, reggae & dub with young blood and legends. Lee Scratch Perry's got the final and mystic word with his under-exposed last release Rise Again (superbly crafted by Bill Laswell, with Steven Bernstein on trumpet and Bernie Worrell on keys), a title which sounds like a symbol of his great renaissance. But it could also fit The Jolly Boys Great Expectation comeback, a band christened by hellraiser Errol Flynn himself while he was living in Jamaica. Both music and hair dressing connoisseurs will understand easily the play on words hidden in the title's mix. Selected and mixed by Nicolas Ragonneau from the Paris DJs Soundsystem.

It's more of a 140 BPM beats kind of affair cooked especially to announce Hidden Orchestra's upcoming live gig at the Outlook Festival 2011 in Croatia this september, Europe's largest bass music & soundsystem culture festival!! Having shared stages with names like Bonobo, Aim, The Bays and Gilles Peterson it's about time Outlook got this interesting Scottish Band down. The Black Cat, the first album on the Colored-Inc. label (colored-inc.com) launched a year ago by Djouls and Doctor L, is what some could say a 'world' album. Blending Latin grooves with Afro rhythms, Reggae harmonies with American Jazz or Funk vibes, Saudade with Jamaican riddims, Psychedelic Funk with Electronic R&B, Psychedelia and Hip Hop, with some lusty doses of Rub-a-Dub, Afro, Soul and Reggae in between, this is indeed a kinda world tour entirely produced by Doctor L & Grant Phabao with some fantastic guest stars... Sam Shepherd aka Floating Points has been shaking the electronic music world for two years now, through a string of releases on his own label Eglo as well as Planet Mu and R2, and remixes for the likes of Shawn Lee, Sébastien Tellier, Bonobo, Basement Jaxx or Four Tet... His smooth, dusty, soulful House sound, his techno-disco-boogie bubblism are rather Detroit-flavoured, while his samples are craftily cut into heavy bumping crunch-beats, paying respect to the lineage from Sun Ra to Madlib and onwards. He's still a twentysomething, but has already stepped out of the DJ action, recording and mixing his full Floating Points Ensemble 16-piece group at the legendary Abbey Road Studios for the Ninja Tune XX twentieth anniversary celebration. This is future soul at the edge of modern British music!

We've been listening to Cee-Lo Green's music for years now, and after being astonished by his vocal prowesses on recent TV shows (MTV, Jools Holland, etc), we couldn't resist a well-deserved tribute. A member of Atlanta hip hop act Goodie Mob in the second half of the 90s, he's then started successful solo career with many singles, two superb albums in 2002 and 2004, and numerous collaborations and vocal featurings: with Outkast, their Dungeon Family collective, Common, Twista, Trick Daddy, De La Soul, Rhazel, Black-Eyed Peas... The list goes on and on and recently culminated with his Gnarls Barkley combination, with "Grey Album" guy Danger Mouse, and their worldwide hit-single "Crazy" (which you must have heard by now if you weren't lost on some stupid island for months for some reason). Cee-Lo started as a rapper, but he's also an incredible funk and soul singer, a producer and a songwriter. Weird and colorful, drenched into p-funk and soul, high-pitched and sometimes toon-ish, his voice is unique. Some would say that's too much talent in just one guy. We say Cee Lo is the one
