The fourth chapter in the Virtual Dub series is more rootical than the previous set. Most of the tracks are pure reggae vibes! All the artists behind the rhythms deliver; in fact it's very difficult to choose highlights on this album. It is a uniformly solid set. KoCha, Delmighty Sounds, Wildfiyah Rootikal, Mind's Eye Dub, and Jah Zohar appear on the Virtual Dub series for the first time, while Soul Remedy, Blaminack, and Urban Dub continue to grace the series with their topnotch contributions. Manwel T goes back to the roots, with style!

Manwel T returns with another dynamic set of dub remixes. The singers and players on this one are Zion Train (with Lua), Bandulu Dub, John Brown's Body, Dr. RemiX, General Smiley, and Alpha & Omega (with Haji Mike and Jonah Dan). Steppers and the usual roots reggae vibes dominate proceedings, but we also get to hear original Studio One DJ General Smiley as musician and rhythm creator on two electronic dancehall tunes, and American band John Brown's Body with two splendid numbers that highlight their complex rock reggae style perfectly. The melodic instrumental 'Up 4 Dub' is a real delight. The album ends with three versions of Alpha & Omega's 'This Is My Prayer', the first one featuring Haji Mike narrating Psalm 23 in his unique way. 'Virtual Dub 3' is another grand Dubkey dub freebie. 'Virtual Dub 2' finds Manwel T remixing tracks by Blaminack (USA), Don Fe (Spain) & El Bib (UK), Dub FX (USA), Dubmatix (Canada), Haji Mike (Cyprus), Kris Naphtali (USA), Mr. Basha (Croatia), Phil Harmony (Germany), and The Manor (UK). Jamaican reggae legends Ranking Joe and Style Scott make superb appearances on two of the tracks. The oldest mix here ('Voice Of Ancients') is from 2006 but the first track on the album ('Future Past') has an early 70s feel! The same tune ends the set - but this time it features Style Scott on drums, who seemingly updates the track by a decade! Nuff styles, moods and textures in between, making this a worthy follow-up to the first 'Virtual Dub' album from last year. Manwel T at the control (PC) tower = Dub music with a capital D! Listen!
